About the project

Remote should describe reality, not just a job-board filter

Remote Reality Check helps candidates turn vague job-listing language into specific questions about location, time, employment, and safety.

The problem

“Remote” answers only one question

A listing can be remote and still require residence in one country, fixed US hours, weekly office visits, a security clearance, or a payroll setup unavailable where you live. Candidates often discover those limits only after investing time in an application.

The approach

Explain the signal, then suggest the next question

The checker uses transparent phrase-based rules. It shows what it found, what the wording may mean, and what to ask the employer. It does not use a hidden model to make a hiring or legal decision.

Who it helps

People navigating the gap between remote and global

International applicants

Check whether your country, work authorization, or timezone affects eligibility.

Remote job seekers

Spot office, schedule, and equipment restrictions hidden in the details.

Digital nomads

Separate permanent hiring eligibility from temporary work-while-traveling permission.

What this project does not do

It does not certify employers, guarantee eligibility, replace an employment contract, or provide legal, tax, immigration, employment, or financial advice. It is a starting point for better due diligence and clearer conversations.
